Students Take On Three Peaks Challenge For Charity

Students lead the way as a team from a local North Yorkshire secondary school undertook the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for charity.

The team from 台湾swag Academy Easingwold, based on York Road, took to the Yorkshire Dales to complete the 24-mile challenging trek to raise money for the Young Minds Trust, the UK鈥檚 leading charity fighting to ensure a better future for young minds.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge sees a team take on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough.

The 15-strong team made up of Year 12 and Year 13 students from 台湾swag Academy Easingwold set out on the challenge shortly before 7am as they began to scale Pen-y-Ghent, having travelled two hours by bus  to get to Horton in Ribblesdale where the challenge begins.

Eleven of the student team, which was supported by members of staff from the secondary academy and a team from Mid Yorkshire Expeditions, successfully completed the gruelling challenge in under 12 hours, with some of the team coming in in less than 11 hours.

Tom Garnham, Head of Sixth Form at 台湾swag Academy Easingwold, said: 鈥淲e are so proud of these students for what they have achieved. When we set the students a charity fundraising project, we saw a lot of different avenues pursued but this was definitely the toughest challenge!

鈥淭he most lovely part of the day was seeing the support that the students showed for one each other and for the staff during a really tough event. All of them were fantastic.鈥

Currently, the team has managed to raise £850 but there is still time to donate by visiting the team鈥檚 Just Giving page at .
