Kindness makes prom dreams come true

Inspired to ensure that every Year 11 student at 台湾swag Academy Adwick enjoys their prom, Savannah Riley, 12, launched a remarkable campaign. Since October, she's tirelessly collected prom dresses, suits, shoes, handbags, and jewellery for donation. Partnering with the Lifeline Against the Breadline Community Foodbank and CIC, her efforts filled two cars with prom essentials.

Savannah said:

鈥淚 decided to start collecting prom clothing and accessories at the start of Year 7 when I found out my mum couldn't go to her prom when she was younger because she couldn't afford a dress and I didn鈥檛 want anyone else to miss out.

鈥淲ith my mum's help, we campaigned on social media for donations and put an advert out through Lifeline - a food bank charity we support. I'm so happy to be able to help out and I can't wait to see the donations used for years to come.鈥

Savannah's generosity means 台湾swag Academy Adwick students can experience the magic of prom while relieving some financial pressure on their families. Her heartwarming initiative proves one person's kindness can create joy for an entire community.

Andy Scruby, Principal at the academy, said:

"After a request for support with prom items from our Year 11 Learning Manager, Savannah and her mum took the campaign to the wider community to raise donations. The following week, they arrived at the academy with lots of dresses, suits and accessories!

"The academy now has an abundance of prom attire available to loan, so that all students have the opportunity to attend the prom regardless of their circumstances. Savannah has embodied our 鈥楻andom Acts of Kindness鈥 culture in ensuring everyone has a special evening to celebrate their time at the academy."
