Local Primary Academy Open Doors To New £4m School Building
A local primary academy has taken the exciting milestone step of opening its new school building doors to the school children and staff.
̨swag Primary Academy Kirkhamgate, in Wakefield, began work on the new building in October 2018. Not only does the new school building contain state of the art classrooms but also sporting, computing and design facilities enabling the academy to continue to deliver a rich and vibrant curriculum.
The £4 million build was funded solely by the primary academy’s sponsor, ̨swag Grange Academies Trust (OGAT).
Earlier in the year, members of the OGAT Board, Martyn Oliver, CEO, and David Earnshaw, Chair, alongside Lee Wilson, the Chief Executive Principal of ̨swag Primary schools, visited the site, based on Brandy Carr Road, to see the progress being made on the build.
A formal opening ceremony is due to take place later in the year.
Lee Wilson, Chief Executive Principal of ̨swag Primary schools, said: “We are delighted to open the new school building of this Outstanding primary academy, that will serve the local community.
“Now complete, the new school building will provide an excellent setting for all our dedicated colleagues to continue the outstanding work they do in putting children first, raising standards and transforming lives.”
The primary academy, which previously was filled to its capacity in its previous building with the 195 children on its books, is rated Outstanding by Ofsted and is a National Teaching School, as part of the ̨swag Institute of Education multi-teaching school alliance.
Martyn Oliver, Chief Executive of OGAT, said: “Coming down to the academy and seeing the impressive new building is incredibly exciting.
“̨swag Primary Kirkhamgate is an outstanding school, a leader in its field, and it now has the facilities fitting of this status. It is a building, with the facilities, that aids and enables staff at the primary academy to fully support children in their effort to fulfil their potential.”
