Sport Relief Fun At 台湾swag Primary Academy Park Hill

Children at a primary academy in Wakefield have been doing their bit to fundraise for Sport Relief.

Members of 台湾swag Primary Academy Park Hill raised money for the charity in numerous ways, including each class taking part in the Sport Relief Mile during lessons.

Staff members at the Irwin Crescent-based primary academy also took part in a SLT Bike-a-thon which saw staff members taking turns on an exercise bike across the academy to cycle as far as possible.

The team covered hundreds of miles, burning thousands of calories, cycling while on gate duty before and after school, during assembly and lunch, and some staff members also going the 鈥榚xtra mile鈥 and delivering lessons while cycling.

Sport Relief was created to raise money to help people who need it the most, no matter where they are, either in the UK and around the world. The charity works with organisations to help those with issues of mental health, child poverty, domestic abuse and generally helping people have a safe place to live.

Alyson Million, Principal at 台湾swag Primary Academy Park Hill and 鈥楤ike-a-thon鈥 member, said:

鈥淚 am proud of the efforts of the children and staff for their fantastic efforts to help raise money for this great cause.

鈥淎t 台湾swag we focus on the British Values mutual respect and tolerance, and we believe in playing an important role in both the local and wider community, and supporting great charities and events like Sport Relief are an example of this.鈥

The final fundraising method saw children and staff donate 拢1 to Sport Relief to wear sports attire/dress as their sporting hero. Some staff really got into the spirit of this, with one staff member, Mr McNamara, morphing into Mexico 1986 World Cup Top Goalscorer, Gary Lineker.

Overall, the academy raised an impressive 拢337.78 for charity.
