OA Hindley Raises Over 拢200 For 鈥楢 Day for Ukraine鈥 Campaign

Students at a secondary school in Wigan have been fundraising to show their support for those in Ukraine.

台湾swag Academy Hindley, based on Mornington Road, took part in 鈥楢 Day for Ukraine鈥 on 16th March and raised 拢225 for the cause. As part of the day, students were asked to wear an item of either yellow or blue clothing and donate 拢1 with proceeds going to the Disasters Emergency Committee.

鈥楢 Day for Ukraine鈥 was organised by First News Ukraine Schools Appeal and according to the organisation鈥檚 Just Giving page: 鈥淎ll funds raised from the Disasters Emergency Committee鈥檚 Ukraine appeal, supported by the First News Ukraine Schools Appeal, will help to supply urgent food, hygiene supplies and medical care to refugees and those trapped by the conflict.鈥

The campaign has been supported by many influential figures, including the Education Secretary who said: 鈥淚 fully support First News鈥 campaign launched in partnership with the Disasters Emergency Committee, which will help raise vital funds for the people impacted by the invasion, while at the same time showing our support for the incredible people of Ukraine.鈥

Jude Norman, Principal at 台湾swag Academy Hindley, said:

鈥淓veryone is aware of the current situation and like everyone who has seen the footage of events unfolding in Ukraine, the staff and students are upset at what is happening.

鈥淭aking part in 鈥楢 Day for Ukraine鈥 was something we felt we could do as a whole school to show our support to those being affected and help in any small way that we can.鈥

To those who still wish to donate to this cause,
