A local ̨��swag Academy Foxhills student is celebrating after winning an art competition.

The competition, which was organised by NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, tasked students to create a picture showing ‘What the NHS means to you’ and received more than 350 entries. Violet Hudson, a Year 10 student, entered her piece in the Age 11-14 category and was later announced as the age group winner.

Feedback from the NHS on Violet’s submission stated that ‘Violet's remarkable artistic talent and dedication truly shone through’ and that ‘Her creative interpretation captured the essence of the National Health Service’s incredible journey and its impact on our community’.

Claire Bradbury, Teacher of Art at ̨��swag Academy Foxhills who coordinated the competition, said:

“I am incredibly proud of the beautiful work Violet entered and the sensitive nature in which she portrayed the NHS with the words she chose - well done, Violet!”

Earlier this month, Violet was presented with prizes, including a framed copy of her submission, by Michelle Hall from the NHS. When asked about the win, Violet said:

“I wasn't expecting to win, however, I am very honoured and grateful to be chosen. It’s great that I’m able to represent the NHS and its staff's incredible hard work and dedication to caring for patients, including my own family members, within my painting”.
